Restoring Childhood. Rebuilding Families.
Creating Sustainable Futures.
A Kenyan child-focused organization working to rescue, rehabilitate, educate and sustainably reintegrate street-connected children and young people into safe families and communities.
To rescue, rehabilitate, reintegrate, and re-socialize street-connected children and young people, and to prevent the risk of family separation through targeted community empowerment
Our Vision
To ensure that every street child and young person is rescued, rehabilitated and reintegrated into the community and/or family sustainably.
Our Mission
Child Safeguarding
We uphold strict safeguarding protocols, a zero-tolerance policy for exploitation, and confidential reporting channels to ensure every child in our care is respected, protected, and heard.
From Immediate Relief to Sustainable Intervention
Our journey began at Shauri Moyo Baptist Church, where we initially provided essential feeding programs to over 300 street-connected children.
However, this frontline experience revealed a deeper, more systemic crisis: the urgent need for a safe haven away from the violence, abuse, and severe neglect of street life.
Nyumba Ya Tumaini was established to transition from temporary relief to a structured, long-term intervention model that safely removes children from the streets and restores them to nurturing families.
Years of Service
Unwavering commitment to street-connected children since our founding in 2002.
Lives Transformed
Over eight hundred young lives have been successfully rehabilitated through our programs.
Children Reconnected Annually
It is our active purpose and goal to reconnect 80 children and young people back to their families and communities every year.
The 4R+P Intervention Framework
Our structured pathway designed to transition children from street crisis to thriving families and communities.
1. Rescue (Temporary Safe Haven)
Protect street-connected boys from immediate street hazards, abuse, and neglect, providing a secure intake environment at our temporary Safe Haven.
2. Rehabilitate (Psychosocial & Health)
Support deep psychological trauma recovery, behavioral stabilization, health care, and holistic personal growth.
3. Reintegrate (Family Reunification)
Safely reconnect rehabilitated boys with their nuclear families through thorough home tracing, background checks, and structured mediation.
4. Resocialize (Education & TVET)
Equip children with formal academic education (ECD to University) or practical vocational skills (mechanics, masonry, carpentry, fashion & design, plumbing).
5. Prevention (FEE & Community)
Tackle root causes of child homelessness by economically empowering vulnerable families and providing youth sports/talent safe spaces.
