Our Proven Impact
At Nyumba Ya Tumaini, impact is at the heart of everything we do. We are committed to creating lasting, positive change for street-connected boys and their families. Our results speak for themselves, reflecting years of dedication and the power of collective support.
“I had lost all hope of seeing my son again. Nyumba Ya Tumaini found him, healed him, and brought him back to me. They supported us to start a small business so I could keep him home. I have my son back because of them.”
A Mother's Joy: Reunited and Resilient
“When I came to Nyumba Ya Tumaini, I had nothing. They gave me more than food and a bed; they gave me a family and a skill. Today, I am a carpenter with my own business, providing for my family. They didn't just save me, they gave me a future.”

Our History
Nyumba ya Tumaini was founded by Ben Muya in 2002 and under the patronage of the late Pastor Charles Baraza. NYT started as a feeding program at Shauri Moyo Baptist Church, led by the late Pastor Charles Baraza, providing food, clothing, and hygiene care to over 300 street-connected children and youth. In 2003, the program relocated to Ongata Rongai to address the growing need for a safe haven where boys could escape the dangers of street life, including abuse, violence, and neglect. Over the past 18 years, we have transformed the lives of over 500 children, reuniting many with their families and equipping others with vocational skills in mechanics, carpentry, and masonry, empowering them to build brighter, sustainable futures.
